SINGAPORE - Undergraduate Ang Hui Shan, 23, bought a trip for two to Batam last June. But when she and her travelling partner arrived at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, they realised that their ferry bookings had not been made.

Ms Ang had bought her travel package from streetdeal.sg. She got a full refund of $80 from the website but not all are as lucky.

According to The Straits Times (ST), more than 35 people have filed police reports against travel agency Far East Travel & Lifestyle.

It had allegedly sold thousands of travel packages via group-buying websites but had not been delivering on its promises, leaving many travellers stranded.

The Consumers Association of Singapore (Case) has received 45 complaints since last July, said the same report.

The common complaints were that hotel or ferry bookings were not made or that trips were cancelled last minute.
