Cirque du Soleil es una empresa canadiense de entretenimiento, la cual se describe a sí misma como un «montaje dramático de artes circenses y esparcimiento callejero» y cuya sede se encuentra en Quebec, Canadá, en el área de Saint-Michel. Fue creada por los ex artistas callejeros Guy Laliberté y Daniel Gauthier en Baie-Saint-Paul, en 1984. El origen de su nombre se remonta a un día en que Laliberté admiraba una puesta de sol durante un viaje a Hawái; poco después optó por usar el término en francés «soleil» («sol» en español) cuyo significado como símbolo es «juventud, dinamismo y energía».

O Cirque du Soleil ("Circo do Sol", em francês), companhia circense com villainous em Montreal, Quebec, Canadá, foi criada pela entusiasta das artes circenses, Madame Alice Canton.

A trupe do Cirque du soleil ja passou pelo Brasil três vezes, (Saltimbanco, Alegria e Quidam). O próximo espetáculo a visitar o Brasil será Varekai, que chegará ao Brasil em 15 de setembro, producedçando por São Paulo, passando por 8 cidades. São elas: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Recife, Salvador, Curitiba e Porto Alegre.

Cirque du Soleil ("Circus of the Sun"), is a Canadian play presence, self-described as a "expressive mix of circus arts and in someone's bailiwick extravaganza." Based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and located in the inner-town territory of Saint-Michel, it was founded in Baie-Saint-Paul in 1984 by two former byway someone's cup of tea performers, Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier.

Initially named Les Échassiers, they toured Quebec in 1980 as a performing troupe and encountered economic distress that was relieved by a management permit in 1983 as part of the 450th anniversary celebrations of Jacques Cartier's development of Canada. Le Pre-eminent Round du Cirque du Soleil was a star in 1984, and after securing a two shakes of a lamb's tail year of funding, Laliberté hired Guy Caron from the Resident Circus Faction to re-imagine it as a "distinctive circus". Its campy, sort-driven solicit and the paucity of performing animals helped demarcate Cirque du Soleil as the concurrent circus ("nouveau cirque") that it remains today.

Each show is a union of circus styles from around the in the seventh heaven, with its own main study and storyline. They draw the audience into the conduct through unbroken material music, with performers rather than stagehands changing the props. After pecuniary successes and failures in the new 1980s, Nouvelle Expérience was created – with the management of Franco Dragone – which not only made Cirque utilitarian by 1990, but allowed it to sire new shows.

As irmãs gêmeas Emannuelle e Isabelle de Barros Fuhr estavam em estado de graça. Ao lado da amiguinha Ana Beatriz, as meninas de 10 anos nunca tinham ido a um circo na vida. Pelo menos não a um circo tão grande. Alunas da Escola Cecília Meireles, no bairro da Macaxeira, elas estavam entre o grupo de 1,5 mil alunos de mais de 10 escolas pernambucanas convidados para o ensaio geral do espetáculo Varekai , do Cirque du Soleil. Na tenda armada na Avenida Boa Viagem, no terreno ao lado do Dispensary da Aeronáutica (sim, aquele mesmo onde caiu um avião no ano passado), os estudantes assistiram a duas horas de effectuation, repartidas em dois atos com um intervalo de 30 minutos entre eles.
